Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport Watch [Type 372]

A few years back, Parmigiani Fleurier teamed up with Bugatti to release the Type 370, a watch that looked like nothing before it. The Swiss watchmaker designed a truly unique watch with all the components and detail we’d expect from a high-end luxury brand. Their process and attention to detail are impeccable but the beauty of it all is the fact that they allow their passion for watchmaking fuel their work, something that most definitely shows in the final product.

This weekend, we were on hand to witness the official unveiling of the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport at The Quail in Carmel, CA, as well as the new watch to accompany the new fastest car in the world. Once again, Parmigiani went to work to craft a timepiece that’s worth the time that was dedicated to making it. Fourty of the Swiss brand’s finest went to work full-time for a year to design and create the Bugatti Super Sport.

Detailed info and images after the jump.

The manually-wound Calibre Parmigiani 372 (power reserve of 10 days) was designed in two planes in order to match the contours of the new Bugatti watch. The most stunning aspect of the watch is its ability to retain the lateral time display by positioning the dial perpendicular to the axis. The Type 372 features 337 components, all of which can be seen from any angle through the six sapphire crystals that house the movement. The casing and deployment buckle are both 18 ct. white gold and polished to perfection. To see the hours and minutes, just glance through the openworked oval dial, which happens to be inclined on a 60-degree axis. The dial’s also made from carbon fibre, as is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. The watch strap is about the only thing not made by Parmigiani Fleurier, as they’ve commissioned Hermès for this.

This is truly a limited edition piece as the first batch will be 30 pieces, each individually engraved. The Super Sport Type 372 is priced at $259,000 and delivery to customers should begin sometime in early 2011. Expect this to be one of the top five watches of 2010 and 2011. We say this because it’s so meticulously crafted and versus other similarly priced timepieces, there’s really nothing like it on the market.

Disclaimer: We were flown out to Monterey, CA on an all-expense paid trip by the folks at Parmigiani to witness the unveiling of the new Bugatti Super Sport supercar as well as the new Type 372 watch. In no way did this sway our review of the watch.
