Though not a completed project just yet, we’re about six months out from the official unveiling of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster at this year’s International Automobile Show in Frankfurt. It will be the second car independently developed by the AMG division of M-Benz and follows some of the same ethos as its Gullwing brethren. The two-seater Roadster will feature a fabric soft top instead of a retractable hard top, which many are expecting. After seeing these shots, we actually dig the soft top.
The SLS AMG Roadster is packing a punch with a 6.2L V8 under the long hood that dishes out 563 horses and is offered alongside the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed transmission. We’re expecting this beauty to be available for sale in the United States by Q4 of 2011.
