Chris Harris takes the new Bentley GT3 R to Goodwood to see if he can really push it beyond its limits.  On the outside, the stripes, nostrils, stickers and other sportscar features make the car stand out from other Bentleys, which are known for luxury driving rather than sporting equipment. The inside reflects this feel with the chubby-bolstered seats and the absence of rear passenger seating.  The vechicle’s suspension has been lowered by 10mm all round, with a 45% increase in the spring rates in the front and a 33% increase at the rear. The car is lighter at 2,195kg (100kg less than standard cars) due to the use of a V8 engine, instead of the bigger V12, which reaches a top speed of 170mph. The steering is also sharper and heavier. The GT3 R has 580hp and 518lb feet, with an overboost function capable of up to 600hp and 553lb for 15 seconds.  All in all, both the look and feel of the car are true to what it stands for – power and luxury combined.
