The First Tadao Ando New York Project Fully Revealed

Tadao Ando New York 2

Tadao Ando, world-renowned Japanese architect and Pritzer Prize winner, recently unveiled his vision for 152 Elizabeth, a high-end condominium building in the Nolita neighborhood in Manhattan and his first project in New York City. The building sports the refinement and simplicity typical in Tadao Ando’s works. “The home should be a sanctuary,” Ando says. “It should be a place where you can come in and reflect,” even if one happens to live in a bustling, gritty, dynamic place like New York City.

152 Elizabeth features polished concrete walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, free-flowing interior spaces, and a living green wall on the southern facade. It’s a masterpiece of air, light, and glass that only the visionary Tadao Ando can create. Check out 152 Elizabeth in the gallery below, and then head on to the DesignBoom article for more about the man and his work.
