The Canadian-American Challenge Cup kicked off its inaugural season in 1966, and the world was treated to watching McLaren winning the Can-Am championship for the next five years. Now, 50 years later, it’s only fitting for McLaren to commemorate the Can-Am’s golden anniversary with a limited-edition 650S that brings back the feel of those storied years.

The limited edition McLaren 650S Spider sees carbon fiber upgrades on the airbrake, bonnet, front splitter, door blades, rear bumper center, and sill covers. It also sports forged alloy wheels in diamond-cut rim and a gloss black finish, with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. Wrapping up the look is a snappy-looking polished stainless steel exhaust system.

Only 50 of these beauties will ever be made, and each will carry a price tag of about US$334,500. The limited edition McLaren 650S Spider will be available in three color schemes: Mars Red, Papaya Sparkonyx, and Black.
