G-Star RAW Research by Aitor Throup is the brand’s latest 20-piece capsule collection, which takes the name of the creative consultant and designer behind the concept. Born out of the internal innovation laboratory set up in the Amsterdam HQ, the clothing line is an intricate connection between innovative engineering and experimental fashion. While the singular material used is Italian selvedge denim fabric, the collection explores it on opposite sides of the spectrum – rigid and raw denim and denim bleached to pure white. The products are manifestations of a curious look into the anatomy of clothing and the lifetime the denim fabric. Pieces include a denim jacket with a strapping system that allows for convenient carrying when not in use, jeans with hidden pockets and a classic parka that features a detachable backpack. Throup likes to think of this collection as a way of thinking about new possibilities in constructing a product from the inside out – of breaking conventional boundaries.
