Limited Edition Zenith ‘El Primero Velar’ Watch Introduced to Celebrate New Range Rover SUV

Range Rover and Zenith are partnering for the second time, this time introducing another limited edition El Primero watch to mark the introduction of the fourth member of the Range Rover family, the Velar. The Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition watch is on a short list of collaboration watches that we’d actually considering purchasing just given how clean the design is and the storied history of both Land Rover and Zenith’s El Primero watch. This edit’s tastefully done and is a very natural creation considering the ‘Velar’ was first introduced in 1969, the same year Zenith presented a fully working prototype of the world’s first self-winding chronograph movement, which it named ‘El Primero’. So while Zenith unveiled its own first, Land Rover did the same with the birth of the first luxury SUV. Timeless design and precision craftsmanship are long-running hallmarks for both brands and this new co-developed creation is a perfect extension of their ethos.

Stand-out details of the El Primero Velar include its 42mm case finished in high contrast burnished copper, a brushed slate grey dial, three chronograph sub-dials, date indicator at six o’clock, and a robust winding crown paired with two functional push pieces. The transparent case back shows the Range Rover and Velar names engraved on the oscillating weight while a co-developed strap is offered up in a sustainable rubber and coated with dark grey diamond-perforated calfskin.
