With The 2018 E-PACE, Jaguar Adds An Agile, Compact SUV To Lineup

Introducing the 2018 Jaguar E-PACE, a compact SUV that’s capable and pulls much of its inspiration from the British automaker’s performance coupe, the F-TYPE. Internally dubbed “The Cub”, Jaguar design chief Ian Callum and team see it just that, the baby of the family that’s still sporty, luxurious, and a whole lot of fun. It has big eyes in the form of F-TYPE-inspired headlamp detail and oversized wheels to really get this disproportionate look that commands attention.

Step inside and you’ll see more of the performance sports car’s influence, from the luxury detailing and center console design to the grab handle, all helping to give the E-PACE a real driver’s car feel. And given how in-demand compact SUVs are right now, there’s still a need for one that provides the segment’s versatility but still provides a connection to the road.

We haven’t gotten the opportunity to drive the five-seat compact SUV yet but given Jaguar’s pedigree and this record-breaking barrel-roll reveal from July, we’re willing to bet The Cub will deliver on all fronts.

The Jaguar E-PACE will hit showrooms soon with a starting price of $38,600, with a 9-speed transmission and standard all-wheel drive. All 2018 Jaguars also come with Jaguar EliteCare, an ownership package that provides a five-year / 60,000-mile limited warranty, complimentary scheduled maintenance coverage, roadside assistance and Jaguar InControl Protect & Remote.
