Now Open | Suitsupply Madison Avenue Store

Now Open | Suitsupply Madison Avenue Store

Suitsupply has opened doors to its second New York City location, this time staking claim in Manhattan’s Madison Avenue shopping district. The detail of the shop was unveiled at last night’s opening party and it’s everything we’ve come to expect from the European brand. Similar to their Broome Street location, the new space at 59th and Madison is perched on the second floor though the view from these glass walls is more inspiring than that of the iconic Soho shop.

In trademark Suitsupply fashion, the new space features a tailoring kiosk front and center, ready to perform alterations on the spot, as well as an expanded made-to-measure program and the full Suitsupply collection, which includes tailoring, knitwear, shoes, and accessories, plus a new, exclusive collaboration with GQ Best New American Designer Baldwin Denim, all unified by Suitsupply interior designer Floor Enneking’s bold use of graphics and color, and innovative, inviting product displays.

Now Open | MYKITA NYC Store

Now Open | Mykita NYC Store

MYKITA, the eyewear specialists from Berlin, have opened up their first shop in the US and it happens to be in New York City. The Soho shop unites the company’s own design principles with optical precision made in Germany. The store’s architecture is based on the progressive composition of different elements and contrasting materials. The shop features purpose-designed furniture and a stage-like lighting concept. Its simplistic design is bold but retains the original character of the art deco factory building.

The all-white MYKITA Wall makes for an amazing presentation area giving the frames ample space to present themselves. Individual shelf elements inserted into the wall provide each model with its own little stage. In addition, out-of-service flight attendant trolleys that have circled the globe a thousand times are given a new lease of life here as a storage facility. The integrated “Relaxed Vision Center” is a special lab equipped with state-of-the-art precision instruments from Carl Zeiss research. Customers can consult the MYKITA in-house optometrist, who generates customized optical profiles and performs an exact adaptation of frame and lens to the wearer’s face. Quality, precision and products “made in Germany” are the common themes behind the partnership of MYKITA with the worldrenowned optical solutions specialist Zeiss.

The ceiling is lit up by a fluorescent-tube construct. The light installation is aligned with the old metal pipes from the original sprinkler system in a conscious reference to the building’s industrial heritage. This finishing touch unites the present with the architectural past.

Now Open | Suitsupply Philadelphia

Now Open | Suitsupply Philadelphia

Suitsupply has just opened another US store, this time setting up shop in The City of Brotherly Love. Located in Rittenhouse Square, the setup takes over an 84-year-old former hotel in the heart of Philly, bringing out everything we’ve come to expect from the European clothier. Philadelphia is known to have an eclectic sense of style which will play well for a brand that looks to deliver timeless pieces with modern twists and unparalleled quality and detail.

Timing is perfect as Suitsupply’s also just dropped a lot of their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The focus this season is on rich hues and bold textures with Indigo-colored wool, linen and silk fortifying the lineup. Other standouts include denim shirts and double-breasted suits with a color palette that stretches out to burnt orange, faded red, and ochre-accented colors.

Suitsupply Philadelphia is open for business and we’re looking forward to making a visit. For our Delaware Valley readers, head on over to 1601 Locust and let us know your thoughts.
