Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute To ‘Mad Men’

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute To 'Mad Men'

Jaeger-LeCoultre pays tribute to AMC’s Mad Men series with a limited run of these Reverso Ultra-Thin timepieces. The television show about 1960s Ad Men has had a successful run over the past few years and though we’ve seen many brands take inspiration from it in their ad campaigns and whatnot, this is one of the very few collaborative efforts that have actually hit the market. This one will be cherished by watch aficionados and Mad Men loyalists alike. Hodinkee tells us only 25 pieces will be made with each baring the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo hand-engraved onto the Reverso’s caseback.

It will come in walnut commemorative box featuring the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo embossed on the top, along with a personalized commemorative letter from Roger Sterling (see below), several high quality Jaeger-LeCoultre advertisement reproductions, pictures of the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to “Mad Men”, and a copy of Roger Sterling’s book “Sterling’s Gold”, autographed by show creator and executive producer, Matthew Weiner.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute To “Mad Men” will be available at JLC boutiques starting next month in a limited, numbered edition of 25 pieces. More images of the beauty below, all of which were captured on set, taken in Roger’s actual office. Head over to Hodinkee for more details.

IWC Pilot Chronograph Top Gun Miramar at SIHH 2012

Ahead of SIHH 2012 later this month comes a look at the IWC Top Gun Miramar Chronograph, the latest edition to the Swiss watchmaker’s Pilot Collection. The beauty is powered by the new in-house caliber 89365 movement as opposed to the Valjoux 7750 which was found in the past versions. The new caliber is more advanced and robust than its predecessor as it features a flyback function and a 168-hour power reserve. The design is military-inspired with a case that’s made from scratch-proof grey ceramic. The dial’s a matte anthracite color with camo-colored beige hands and chapter ring and a green textile strap to finish things off. More details to drop once this beauty is unveiled at SIHH along with four other models from the Pilot collection.

Hodinkee Store at The Pop Up Flea NYC, Dec 2-4

Hodinkee Store at The Pop-Up Flea NYC

We’re a day away from the launch of this year’s Pop-Up Flea here in NYC and some pretty major news just came through the wire. Online watch publication Hodinkee is launching their first Pop-Up Store at the event. So what’s up for grabs, you ask? The type of stuff you expect to be reading about on Hodinkee. Ben Clymer & Co. have done an amazing job lining up the offerings. We’re talking vintage watches, old clocks, pocket watches, vintage watch advertisements and posters, and other old-timey watch miscellanea. They’ll even have a bunch of NATO straps in different colors, along with some Horween leather and suede NATOs and straps.

We have just a ton of great stuff, ranging from just $350 up to a few thousand. We will be accepting all major credit cards and we promise you, this will be the best vintage watch buying opportunity in New York city in all of 2011. We’ll have a good range of Rolex (more affordable than you think) Omega (including some seriously awesome Speedmasters), Heuer, Universal Geneve, LeCoultre, Longines, Hamilton, Breitling, etc.

The Pop-Up Flea kicks off tomorrow at 3PM and will run Saturday and Sunday as well. You’ve got three days to get your hands on some really exceptional product. For a more detailed look at some of the offerings, head on over to Hodinkee.

Ralph Lauren on Watches

Ralph Lauren on Watches

From Hodinkee comes a short conversation with iconic American designer Ralph Lauren on watches. Though the talk is only a few minutes long, the topic is covered with great detail and shows Mr. Lauren’s passion for fine made goods. Though there’s a struggle between the type of watch he’s wanted to make and what is concievable and accepted in the industry, we think some of the pieces RL has released over the years are progressive in their own ways but timeless nonetheless.

Introducing | Autodromo Driving Watches

Introducing | Autodromo Driving Watches

New brands pop up on the market every single day but we’ll admit very few are actually worth mentioning. Autodromo is one of those few as the brand enters the market with a unique perspective and offers up top-quality watches at an affordable price point. The brand makes watches for motoring that are inspired by the classic dashboards of mid-20th century European racers and utilize Swiss Ronda quartz movements and K1 sapphire-coated glass throughout all their models. The first three models to come from the brand are the Veloce, Brescia and Vallelunga. Designer Bradley Price has done a tremendous job creating these contemporary timepieces and we’re expecting him to stick around for a good while.

Look below for more detailed looks at all the available models and head on over to Hodinkee for the finer details.

Hublot Bal Harbour Boutique Opening with Dwayne Wade

Hublot Bal Harbour Boutique Opening with Dwayne Wade

Earlier this week, Hublot held an event at Miami’s Club 50 at the Viceroy Hotel, celebrating the official opening of the Hublot Bal Harbour Boutique opening. Dwayne Wade was on hand, sporting is own creation — the Hublot King Power “D-Wade”. Dwyane made his mark as a designer in creating his very own limited edition watch in collaboration with Hublot. “The elements reflect my personal style and love for basketball”, he said of the watch which features his jersey’s #3 and a bball net design on the strap.

Wade enjoyed the soiree with girlfriend Gabrielle Union and Hublot Managing Director Ricardo Guadalupe while guests danced to tunes spun by DJ Khaled. Proceeds from the Hublot King Power Dwyane Wade watch will go to support the Wade World Foundation in its efforts to promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations.

Hodinkee x Club Monaco | Vintage Watches Made in the USA

Hodinkee x Club Monaco | Vintage Watches Made in the USA

There’s something special about the work that Ben Clymer of Hodinkee does. He connects readers with products that they normally wouldn’t be able to see and talks about complicated timepieces in a way that folks can relate to and the unique content he dishes out on the daily is by far some of the best watch coverage on the digital web. He’s been steadily growing his following and this is one of his many “stamps of approval” in the past few months. He’s been doing some close work with TAG Heuer and Audemars Piguet and has ongoing collaborative efforts with the teams over at Gilt. Now, Club Monaco commissioned Ben to find some vintages military-style watches that were made right here in the US of A as part of their Made in the USA collection in conjunction with Michael Williams of A Continuous Lean. Of course, he delivered and now the goods are being sold at the Club’s New York flagship at 21st and 5th and Toronto’s Bloor Street location. There are less than ten pieces in total and we’re not sure which ones are even left but we suggest getting in to one of these shops if they’re local and check out the beauties for yourself.
