Brazilian man with $1.8m in traffic fines finally caught

Brazilian police pulled over Armando Clemete da Silva last night for a routine document check, and when looking up the car, they found more than they were expecting. The guy owes about 1,000 tickets from speeding and running red lights that roughly equal $1.8 million.

This guy’s tickets date back to 2001 when he first bought his car. How the heck does that happen? For seven years, Armando’s been strolling around Brazil running lights and speeding, and letting the fines pile up. Is excuse? He says that he didn’t receive any notices because he never bothered to register the car under his name.
