Elephant escapes from circus near Mexico City and hits bus

Just outside of Mexico City, an five-ton elephant escaped from a circus and got hit by a bus.  The animal and the driver of the bus died, and six people were injured. Apparently, the elephant tried cross a busy highway just after midnight and got hit.

The elephant was 40, and had escaped from Circo Union and traveled through two neighborhoods before entering the highway.

Entertainment attractions south-of-the-border aren’t doing so good lately.  Just last month, a 500-pound lion escaped from a private zoo owned by a local lawmaker in southern Mexico. The animal killed two dogs and a pig and attacked a woman and child on a donkey before it was sedated and caught.
