The Queen has been gifted a Royal carriage by Australia, a carriage that took nearly two years and 50 craftsmen to complete. It’s odd however that Australia’s former Prime Minister John Howard commissioned the carriage to be built and the country’s current PM Kevin Rudd actually wants a referendum on the monarchy.
The state coach Brittania was designed and built in Sydney by Jim Frecklington and under the guidance of the Duke of Edinburgh, a renowned carriage driver himself. It’s valued at £620,000 ($892,716) and also contains a time capsule containing elements of British history including wood from the Mayflower and more gold than any other vehicle made in Britain for almost 200 years.
