The New York Times has released a short documentary highlighting a Chinese boot-camp-style treatment center for young men “addicted” to the Internet. In 2008, China declared Internet addiction to be a clinical disorder, as they see it as a major healthy threat to its teenagers. The kids admitted into Beijing’s Internet Addiction Rehabilitation Centre in Daxing talk about what landed them there. Times of stay vary but are typically three to four months and parents are also encouraged to stick around as well so that they can be educated on how to cope with their child’s addiction.
