Y-3 designer Yohji Yamamoto gives his interpretation of the iconic Stan Smith shoe that’s making a triumphant return this year. The Stan Smith Y’s have the original Stan Smith foundation with its simple silhouette but Yohji’s taken the shoe further by utilizing several materials and adding in some fine details to really rework the Stan Smith. Look for thick navy canvas on the lateral and medial quarters, grey suede accents on the eye-stay and heel tab, and white smooth leather on the toe box and tongue. Hand-stitched style zig-zag embroidery replaces the original perforated 3-Stripes, with threads overhanging the midsole, enabling them to fray over time, with wear. A Stan Smith callout and trefoil sit de-bossed on the heel, while an oversized Y’s logo can be seen on the tongue.
The Stan Smith Y’s will arrive in select retailers in the weeks head with a $180 pricetag.
