Filson has officially opened the doors to its New York City store. The 1,800 square-foot space is located in the NoHo district of the city and sixth shop for the company. It’s situated next door to the iconic Beaux Arts firehouse, home to Engine Company 33 and Ladder Company 9 of the New York City Fire Department. Inside, you’ll find a “living wall” by plant artist, Satoshi Kawamoto (aka Greenfingers) and a shuffleboard table and lounge area. The details go beyond just this as there are bags hanging from a wall of reclaimed wood from the Williamsburg Domino Sugar factory, as well as a 42-star flag behind the cash register (from the year that Washington became a state), incorporating both New York City and Seattle history into the space. In terms of stock, you’ll find Filson’s line of signature luggage, leather accessories, apparel and iconic outerwear. This shop’s special though as it’s the first retail location to offer Filson’s new line of camera bags, developed in collaboration with Magnum Photos. The first four bags in the collection are designed to spec by photographers David Alan Harvey and Steve McCurry and feature custom signature labeling.
