Introducing the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, a 640-horsepower monster that’s capable of hitting a top speed of 200 mph. The goal here’s been to create the most powerful Cadillac to date while also ensure that the horses can actually be kept on the ground. No sense in getting top-notch figures if it can’t translate into precise, controlled performance. GM’s supercharged, 6.2-liter LT4 V8 not only churns out 640 horsepower here but delivers 630 pound-feet of torque as well. For comparison’s sake, that’s just 10 hp and 20 lb-ft less than the Corvette Z06. It’s a rear-wheel drive beauty that’s fitted with launch control and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 0 to 60 time here is 3.7 seconds and that’s in part thanks to the aerodynamic enhancements. Look for an optional package that delivers a carbon-fiber hood, front splitter, rear spoiler and diffuser, all of which are made to drop some pounds while increasing performance. Inside the cabin is what we’ve come to expect from Cadillac in terms of comfort and technology but there’s an option for carbon fiber trim, microfiber suede upholstery trim, and even for Recaro seats. Look for the 2016 CTS-V to launch later next year while making its in-person debut at January’s Detroit Auto Show.
