Selectism sheds light on an exhibition taking place at Brooklyn Museum this spring. “Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks” examines the work of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat through his previously unseen notebooks. “His immediately recognisable aesthetic commodified across trinkets, clothing and accessories, the exhibition steps aside from the hype for a more truthful retelling of his life story.” We’re talking 160 pages of documents as well as related works on paper and large-scale paintings. “Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks” kicks off on April 3rd and runs until August 23rd at the Brooklyn Museum.
