The new Mercedes-Benz G Class range has been announced, sporting some upgrades to current models, the introduction of a new G65 model and a special edition.

Mercedes has introduced a twin-charged 4.0-liter V8 in the G550 model which pumps out 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. The current G550 only operates at 382 horsepower from its 5.5-liter V8. The new G550 takes 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The G63 has the usual twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 and now also comes with 563 horsepower and 560 lb-ft or torque. The current G63 model pushes 536 horsepower. The new G63 runs from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The new range also includes a V12-powered G65 model with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter engine, 621 horsepower and 737 lb-feet of torque. The G65 is the fastest of the lot, running from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. A special edition 463 model is also available and will include carbon fiber accents, custom 21-inch wheels, stainless steel step rails, and a two tone nappa leather interior.

The 2016 range will include the classic sturdy basis of the body and ladder-frame chassis, all-wheel drive, a low-range gearbox and three differential locks. The standard suspension has been upgraded with new shock absorbers and a tweaked stability system. Aesthetic upgrades include revised bumpers, more color options, new dials and a navigation screen.
