G-Star RAW has teamed up with Swiss furniture maker Vitra for an office collection that’s a blast from the past. The Prouvé RAW Office Edition Collection is a 10-piece collection that revives a selection of French architect and designer Jean Prouvé’s furniture designs from the 1940s for the modern office of today.
The collaboration between G-Star RAW and Vitra, their second, was began as custom-made pieces designed for G-Star’s headquarters in Amsterdam, which opened in 2014. The collection includes chairs, tables, cabinets and lamps that pay tribute to the sleek designs of the forties while being fully functional for an office of the current age.
“I am convinced that my father would have very much appreciated this reinterpretation of his designs and the way this collaboration brings the collection back to its roots in the office,” said Catherine Prouvé, the designer’s daughter. “I like the fact that this edition honors my father’s original design, while complementing it with contemporary details.”
