MR PORTER Goes Inside the Aston Martin Works Restoration Garage

Considering its heritage and reputation, it should come as no surprise that Aston Martin has its own restoration garage. The Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, England, was created by the British Automaker as a place where it could restore past models to their original glory. Restoring each car is a painstaking process in which a car is completely disassembled before being lovingly welded, trimmed, hammered, reupholstered, painted and buffed into its original form.

MR PORTER got the chance to watch Aston Martin’s auto artisans at work and returned with a video showing the two-year process each restored car undergoes. In this case, the car in question happens to be a DB5, arguably Aston Martin’s most iconic model, thanks to its inclusion in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger.” The video is a hypnotic time lapse as, step by step, the once-battered DB5 returns to gleaming, glorious life.
