Steve McQueen, named the ‘King of Cool’, is known for a lot more than just his successful acting career. McQueen was also a professional race car driver and his taste for sportscars resulted in a one of a kind collection. The last Porsche in this collection, a 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera will be auctioned off at Monterey.
The new lucky owner of the mint condition sportscar will drive away with a machine powered by a 3.0-liter non-intercooled engine, a feature that on its own makes the car very rare. McQueen ordered the vehicle with a custom Slate Gray paint job, sunroof, dual mirrors, sport seats, and a black interior. The actor also added other touches to the vehicle like a killswitch for the rear lights, and wider wheels.
The auction will be run by Mecum Auctions from the 13 – 15 August and part of the proceeds will be donated to Boys Republic.
