Leica have announced a new camera in digital medium-format. The S Typ 007 maintains the medium-format sized sensor of its predecessor but now has an advanced CMOS chip instead of the older CCD configuration. The upgrade has resulted in a higher sensitivity camera with 4K video capabilities, a live-view option, and better sound clarity. The camera shoots at a rate of up to 3.5 fps and it’s new Maestro II processor allows for much faster read/write speeds. The upgrades have however not resulted in a price increase, but rather the camera price has been dropped to $16,900, making it more attainable to medium-format camera enthusiasts. The Leica S Typ 007 is now available for pre-order. Check out the Leica website for details.
