To coincide with this week’s London Collections: Men, John Lobb have unveiled their F/W ’16 collection of footwear. This season, inspiration comes from the “mystic granite Tors of Dartmoor” and focus on harsh winter conditions. The Balmoral group of walking boots and shoes features new rubber soles while the John Lobb Museum Calf is reimagined with a fine grain and waterproof finish. Each piece tends to dance on the edge of design and function, never ignoring the other. Key details include notched storm welts, palladium lace hooks and eyelets inspired by a bespoke 1940s ski boot from the John Lobb archives. In this collection, the brand also introduces the Tensile Construction, which is a classic Goodyear Welt but with a lot more flexibility and quilted sock detail interiors. Look for this in classic John Lobb lightweight suedes as well as the new Moorland Grain. The Artisans Series is also a notable point for the upcoming winter as the capsule collection is designed by Artistic Director Paula Gerbase in collaboration with the Bespoke Atelier. Its aim is to highlight the absolute craftsmanship and artistry of John Lobb’s Artisans through five distinctively elegant pieces which speak of quality, modernity and mastery of technique.
