Prepare to be transported back to the 1970’s. ‘The Get Down’, Netflix’s newest series follows a group of young boys living in the South Bronx as they discover themselves and a newfound love for music. Set in the 1970’s, an era in which hip hop, disco, and punk were all born, this new musical drama depicts the influence of New York during this iconic time. The 13 episode series is directed by Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby and Romeo and Juliet) and stars an impressive cast including Shameik Moore, Jaden Smith and Giancarlo Esposito. ‘The Get Down’ is set to be released on August 12th, but until then check out its exciting trailer above.
