Ermenegildo Zegna recently unveiled its Spring/Summer 2017 collection and it stays true to the effortlessly chic and sophisticated aesthetic that the luxury Italian fashion house has established for itself over the years. The line evokes sentiments of a European summer set in the elegant time period of the Fifties, a time when fashion had a casual ease about it. The color palate serves as a testament to recreating this Italian atmosphere during the 1950s, with a range of subdued tones that included dusty pink, mauve, brown, burgundy, blue and ivory white. Reflecting the summery approach of the collection, relaxed and languid silhouettes and high-waisted trousers dominated the line. Materials were unsurprisingly of the highest quality, ranging from “seersucker, hopsack, ottoman and etamine to high performing pure silks, hemps and “Crossover” linen/silk/wool blends applied also to the more casual proposals.” The dedication to creative and technological expertise was particularly true of the deconstructed outerwear and coats, which utilized leather, suede, organic cotton and superfine wool. As a cohesive unit, Emenegildo Zegna’s SS17 collection is a perfect demonstration of classic elegance interspersed with “delicate hints of eccentricity.” Check out the looks in the gallery above.
