Kevin Durant to Sign With Golden State Warriors

Kevin Durant to Golden State

After weeks of speculation and anticipation, Kevin Durant has finally made his decision. The highly sought after free agent has made the unprecedented move of signing with The Golden State Warriors and joining the elite Splash Brothers. In the past weeks, Durant met with many teams including the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. While many looked at Durant and saw a legacy player who would rise and fall with the same franchise throughout this career, the 27-year-old point guard made a stunning move and opted for a two-year contract, including a player option in the second year, with the Warriors. Durant, who has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2008, wrote an emotional statement entitled “My Next Chapter” for the Players Tribune. In it, he expressed, “It really pains me to know that I will disappoint so many people with this choice, but I believe I am doing what I feel is the right thing at this point in my life and my playing career”. While the move has had mixed reception, this new addition to the already extremely successful Warriors team is sure to be one to watch during the upcoming NBA season.
