The Metropolitan Museum of Art has revealed the theme for their annual fundraising Met Gala event. Typically, the Met Gala themes center around legendary designs and deceased designers. For the first time since the Yves Saint Laurent theme in 1983 the show will center around a living designer – Japan’s own Rei Kawakubo, founder of the polarizing Commes des Garçons label. The exhibit will feature over 120 Commes des Garçons womenswear pieces dating back to the brands 1981 birth, and is scheduled to open to the public on May 4th, 2017. The event is also set to be co-chaired by none other than Pharrell Williams and Katy Perry.
