Lamborghini’s Track-only Essenza SCV12 Hypercar Has Over 830 HP, Limited to 40 Units

Introducing the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, a track-only, limited edition hypercar housing the most powerful V12 naturally-aspirated engine the Italian carmaker’s ever created. It’s a tremendous blend of engineering, design, and driving exhilaration, giving an elite group of customers an experience they’ll only be able to get here.

Design inspiration blends the brand’s racing heritage with its present and future. Elements are taken directly from both the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO. Lamborghini Centro Stile has designed all the racing cars produced by Lamborghini since Squadra Corse was established and it’s their creative work that brings the Essenza SCV12 to life. The structure of the bodywork is formed by just three elements, allowing for quick replacement when necessary during pit stops. The exclusive Verde Silvans, Grigio Linx, Nero Aldebaran Gloss and Arancio California launch livery amplifies the trademark logos of long-standing Lamborghini Squadra Corse partners, Pertamina, Pirelli and Roger Dubuis.

Hexagonal geometry helps to characterize the front headlight as well as the roof airscoop and air vents that frame the steering wheel. The unmistakable “Y”, the stylistic feature repeated on the livery and in the cockpit, with each element representing the best compromise between lightweight, functionality and design. The instrument panel and dashboard more specifically are supported by an asymmetrical carbon “Y”, a load-bearing and stylistic element that frames the cockpit, designed to put the driver at the center of an absolute driving experience.

The cockpit, with the driver fully in mind, features a specific FIA homologated OMP seat with carbon shell and multifunction steering wheel that’s inspired by F1 single-seater steering wheels to deliver the best ergonomics and feel.

With the Essenza SCV12 being reserved for track use, much of the hypercar’s engineering is derived from racing. The V12 engine delivers over 830 hp with exhaust pipes design by Capristo to reduce back pressure, improve performance and, of course, amplify the sound of this monstrous engine. Power’s mated to a new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox as a structural element within the chassis. With all the power the Essenza SCV12 is churning out, it’s mated to a rear-wheel drive system to stay nimble while providing structural continuity and greater torsional stiffness.

Lamborghini’s racing experience has been heavily leveraged here, with the inclusion of kinematic solutions like the push-rod rear suspension being installed directly on the gearbox. The end result is a hypercar that’s agile yet confident, even through the most demanding track conditions.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT racing experience called for a host of aerodynamic elements, aimed at ensuring a level of efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car, equating to roughly 1,200 kg at 250 km/h. Up front, the hood features a double air intake with a central rib, typical of the Huracán racing cars, which helps to separate the hot airflow coming from the radiator and conveys the cold air to the airscoop located on the roof. Vertical fins on the side sills help optimize the flows for engine and gearbox cooling. The aero package is finished off with a large, adjustable double-profile rear wing.

The Essenza SCV12 features an exceptional power-to-weight ratio of 1.66 hp/kg thanks to the new-generation carbon fiber monocoque chassis without internal rollcage. The Essenza SCV12 is also the first GT car developed to respect FIA prototype safety rules.

With just 40 units to be produced, the Essenza SCV12 puts customers in a small network and in as well as an exclusive program which will provide them access to track events and support from the Squadra Corse technical team starting in 2021. The program includes storage service in a new hangar built in Sant’Agata Bolognese for the Essenza SCV12 club. Each car comes with a personalized garage and dedicated services, including the ability to monitor their cars 24 hours a day through an app. The facility also houses the “Lamborghini Squadra Corse Drivers Lab” by Tecnobody to offer athletic training programs similar to those followed by the official Lamborghini racing drivers.
