Singer Reimagines the 911 for Off-Road Racing with All-Terrain Competition Study

Introducing the All-terrain Competition Study by Singer, a Porsche 911 modified for off-road racing and all-terrain exploration. The journey to this began at the request of a long-term client, with Singer pulling inspiration from the golden era of Porsche rallying in the 1980s and to iconic Porsche’s like the 911 SC/RS and 959. The end result sees his air-cooled 911s as World Rally Championship-inspired, all-terrain competition machines. The name is a mouthful but the capabilities are tremendous with 911 rally specialist Richard Tuthill helping to bring this to life. Tuthill has created 911s that have dominated rally events for decades, most recently winning the 2019 East African Safari Classic and deep expertise at the WRC competition and events such as the Paris-Dakar.

The client has commissioned two machines, one – in Singer’s iconic Parallax White – focused on high-speed desert rallying and a second – in Corsica Red – configured for high-speed, high-grip tarmac events and disciplines.

Details for the ACS are immense but highlights include the dramatically increased ride height, suspension travel and overall strength as well as carbon fiber body panels suited to quick replacement and easy underbody access. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter, air-cooled flat-six with power starting at 450hp. That’s mated to permanent AWD and a sequential racing transmission with front, center and rear limited-slip differentials.

roll cages and frame stiffening supports, a dramatically raised ride height with long-travel suspension that features two adjustable dampers per wheel, and permanent all-wheel drive. A 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six engine with twin turbochargers and intercoolers produces at least 450 horsepower, sent through a five-speed sequential gearbox. Front, center and rear limited-slip differentials are also fitted.

Inside’s the bare bones with FIA-certified roll cage and seats and properly equipped with a long-range fuel tank, two full-size spare tires, GPS and hydration systems for the driver and passenger.

These two cars were built specifically for a client but Singer’s able to create future commissions on request. See more of both machines in the gallery.
