The original Hamilton’s Frogman series was built for the U.S. Navy in 1943 as a robust dive watch and the nameplate has been reserved for the brand’s most capable dive watches since.
This year, Hamilton unveils a refreshed Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic series with a clean, angular, and muscular vibe with a design that combines aggressive modern styling with impressive finishing and robust performance.
The new Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic is presented with a 46mm-wide and 13.58mm-thick stainless steel case and lugs tapered with angular profiles and flat-brushed planar surfaces. Another distinctive feature would be the 9 o’clock side of the case having a squared-off projection with an engraved Hamilton symbol, as well as a smooth continuous polished chamfer from lug tip to lug tip. Its 3 o’clock crown also showcases a heavy-duty Ploprof-style industrial style with its chunky and stylized loop-style outer crown guard. Hamilton completes this case with an etched solid case back and a stylized scuba mask motif. The timepiece is maritime-ready with 300 meters of water resistance.
More on the looks, the chronograph has a no-date layout with a textured matte black dial surface enhanced with Super- LumiNova and stencil-style Arabic numerals at 12 o’clock. It has blunted arrow-style hours hand and a minutes hand outlined in blazing signal orange.
Now moving on to the technicals, the Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic is powered by the ETA-based H-10 automatic movement, which is a variant of Swatch Group’s Powermatic 80 line. It gives a 21,600 BPH beat rate with an 80-hour power reserve. It is coupled with an advanced Nivachron balance spring to enhance magnetic and temperature resistance.
The Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic comes with accordion-style rubber dive straps in either black or khaki tan, as well as a three-link oyster style bracelet in stainless steel for the bare metal bezel model.
The Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic series is now available through authorized dealers retailing from $1,195 to $1,295. For more information, please visit hamiltonwatch.com.
