IWC Portofino Watches In 34mm and 37mm Redefine Sophistication

Historic Swiss watchmaker IWC recently unveiled new additions to its the well-known Portofino catalog, its sophisticated dress watch line, with several new 34mm and 37mm models.

All the new watches in the Portofino line share the same classic round case shape, convex sapphire crystals dial covers, diamond dial markers, push/pull winding crowns, and water resistance of up to 50 meters.

The cases in the new collection also come in either stainless steel or 18k 5N rose gold options, with some models offering diamond-set bezel options as well. Watch enthusiasts are given strap and bracelet options fitted with quick-release springboard lugs for tool-free swaps. Most have two-piece Swiss calf leather straps with butterfly-style folding clasps, with certain 34mm and 37mm stainless steel models also having matching 5-link alternating brushed and polished bracelets. Leather strap options come in black, blue, beige, taupe, and green.

The 34mm IWC Portofino models feature screw-affixed solid casebacks and silver or blue dials, plus it can come in at 8.7mm or 8.9mm thickness variants depending on the bezel configuration. They have Time-Only or Day & Night versions that swap out the Roman numeral on the lower half for a day/night indicator on a stylized rotating disc. Time-Only models are powered by the brand’s 42-hour power-reserved Caliber 35100 movement, while the Day & Night model uses the 50-hour power reserved Caliber 35180. Both self-winding movements run at 28,800vph. An exclusive green dial option is given to the Time-Only version.

On the other hand, the 37mm IWC Portofino models are presented with sapphire display windows that reveal in-house movements and a date window at 3 o’clock. They come in at 9.4mm thick for the standard three-handed models or 11.3mm thick for the moon phase complication models. All the 37mm models run on the Caliber 32000 series with 28,800vph and 120-hour power reserve. It comes with perlage, blued screws, Geneva stripes, and gold-plated skeletonized oscillating weights. The standard three-handed time and date models use the Caliber 32111, while the Moon Phase 37 edition runs on the Caliber 32800.

More on the 37mm timepieces, its dial colors include green, slate, and silver, with the exception of the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 model that comes exclusively with a silver dial and replaces the 12 o’clock Roman numeral with a traditional moon phase display.

The new IWC Portofino 34 and 37 watches cost between $6,250 for the leather strapped three-handed stainless steel model to $23,200 for Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37. Both are available from the IWC website and in IWC Schaffhausen stores worldwide.
