Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition Channels Legendary 2021 F1

The 2022 Formula One season saw Mercedes-AMG coming in third overall. To celebrate the season’s end, the German car maker is releasing a super-limited edition of the SL 63 sportscar that pays homage to the Petronas F1 car with an assortment of visual changes that mimics the 2021 F1 machine’s liveries.

The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition’s metallic paint has a color graduation from silver to obsidian black. It is painted-on three-pointed stars over the black coat, the familiar Petronas aqua on the wheel rim flanges, rear diffuser, side sill panels, and apron in front for contrast, and 21-inch 10-twin-spoke matte black AMG wheels. The collector’s edition comes with the AMG Aerodynamics package and the AMG Night package.

Powering the car is the same 4.0L V8 bi-turbo engine that comes standard on the seventh-generation SL 63, with 577 hp and 590 lb-ft. of torque. It goes from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.

Only 100 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition examples will be produced, coming with a special edition indoor AMG car cover that boasts an anti-static woven flannel lining to protect the vehicle from dust and scratches.

Though pricing for the limited edition was not revealed, we expect a price tag higher than the standard SL 63 at $179,150.
