Retromobile 2023 | 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 5.6 AMG ‘Wide Body’ On Auction Block

Retromobile 2023, the European expo for vintage cars, is live at the Paris expo de Versailles from February 1st through 5th. This year’s event brings together the world’s three leading auction houses, including Artcurial. Artcurial is set to auction off some of the rarest vintage cars on the market from February 3rd to 4th like Lot 218, a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 5,6 ‘Wide Body.’

In 1985, Mercedes launched the Mercedes 560 SEC. Since then, only 50 models of this car were ever produced by the German automaker. The six-liter M117 V8 560 SEC, chassis no. WDB1260451A459306, up for auction is a black ‘dechromed’ SEC coupé prepared by AMG, called the ‘black demon’ in Germany. It comes with a Hungarian title and registers 56,750 km on the odometer.

The coupé sports a Wide Body configuration, rear bumper spoiler, and ‘Penta’ 5-spoke wheels. The car’s interior has a monochrome black palette infused into its electronically adjustable leather Recaro seats, varnished burr walnut trim, and the AMG The Super Mercedes Grossaspach plaque on the passenger side dash. The speedometer goes up to 300 km/h.

The 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC 5,6 AMG ‘Wide Body’ will go up for auction at the Salon Rétromobile, Paris, on February 4th, 5:00 PST, with Hervé Poulain taking the gavel as the auctioneer. The car has an estimated value of around $217,214 to $325,821.
