2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive is BMW’s New Electric Lineup Range Topper

Making its debut at Auto Shanghai this week, the German automaker releases information on the 2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive, which will be BMW’s most powerful EV when it goes on sale in the second half of 2023.

Powering the 2024 BMW i7 M70 xDrive are two electric motors at each axle with a combined horsepower of 650 hp, 483 peak hp from the rear motor, and 255 hp from the front. The M-specific 483-hp rear unit will also become BMW’s most powerful electric motor. Torque values range from 748 lb-ft in Sport Mode to 811 lb-ft in M Launch Control or M Sport Boost Modes. The new  i7 M70 xDrive can go from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 155 mph.

The new i7 comes with a 105.7-kWh battery with 101.7-kWh usable power, an EPA-estimated range of 295 miles on standard driving conditions. Home AC charging recharges at up to 11 kW, while DC fast charging maxes out at 195 kW.

Each new BMW i7 M70 xDrive will come with an illuminated kidney grille, 21-inch Jet Black light alloy wheels with high-gloss inserts, blue M Sport brake calipers, and optional 20-inch High-performance tires. The M Performance Professional Package features black brake calipers, a high-gloss grille surround, sculpted M side skirts, M logos with embellished borders on the fenders, an M High-gloss Shadowline trim, black M exterior mirrors, a black M rear spoiler, black accent strip between the taillights, and a trim-exclusive diffuser insert for the rear apron. Like other i7s, the M70 also has options for a two-tone paint scheme.

The car will sport the latest version of BMW’s operating system, featuring a redesigned home screen with a column of icons on the left edge and a curved display with M-specific font and graphics.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed as of writing, but expect to get more information closer to the start of production later this year.
