Daily Paper FW23 Travels to Somalia

After presenting the Moroccan-inspired Spring/Summer 2023 collection earlier this year, Daily Paper now looks toward the eastern shores of Africa for its Fall/Winter 2023 Collection. The collection takes on Hussein Suleiman’s Somali heritage and reimagines it in the collection’s new motifs and symbolisms, and also features a collaboration with Somali artist Mustafa Saeed and poet Ibrahim Hirsi.

The collection features a predominantly earthy palette with dark blues, deep greens, browns, and neutrals punctuated by flashes of reds, mustard, and lavender. Its designs use prints and subdued patterns. The apparel and accessories collection includes oversized overcoats, denim and puffer jackets, a selection of knits and tees, clothing using printed fabric using Mustafa Saeed’s art pieces, as well as bags, caps, and wallets.

Highlight pieces in the collection include pants and zip-up top outfits with Mustafa Saeed’s Al Hindi cloth photographic art piece serving as a repeating pattern on both, Somali tribal weapon patterns on overcoats, jackets, pants, and accessories, graphic tees featuring snippets from poet, Ibrahim Hirsi.
