De Bethune DB28xs Starry Seas Debuts Next DB28 Evolution

De Bethune, the Swiss watch brand founded by David Zanetta, reveals the latest version of its iconic DB28 timepiece. Smaller than its predecessor, the DB28xs Starry Seas brings some new elements to the table, including the world’s first random guilloche dial pattern.

The DB28xs Starry Seas is smaller than the DB28 house model at only 38.7mm and is currently the smallest watch in the DB28 collection. The new watch carries the same basic DB28 design and features hinged floating lugs, the crown at 12:00, double anti-reflective sapphire crystal over the dial and the caseback, engraving ring in blued circular satin finish titanium, and grade 5 titanium finished case with a mirror polish. It is fitted with a silver outer chapter ring that sports the brand name, as well as the hour and minute markings and an extra-supple alligator leather strap with a titanium pin buckle. What sets the DB28xs Starry Seas apart is the dial, which is made from heat-blued and polished grade 5 titanium. The dial is engraved with the world’s first random guilloché pattern and finished with an asymmetrical sprinkling of white-gold stars.

Powering the DB28xs Starry Seas is De Bethune’s classic mechanical hand-wound DB2005 caliber movement used in its Starry Varius line. It features 27 jewels, self-regulating twin mainspring barrels, a titanium balance wheel with white gold inserts, a flat balance spring with a self-centering terminal curve, a silicon escape wheel, and the pare-chute anti-shock system. It has a 6-day power reserve and a water resistance of 30 meters.De Bethune’s DB28xs Starry Seas retails for $90,000 and will be available at De Bethune retailers worldwide.
