Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech Evokes Damascus Steel

Girard-Perregaux releases the newest entry into its Laureato Absolute collection catalog, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech. It uses an innovative technique to create a random structural pattern on the case.

The Laureato Absolute 8Tech manufacturing system uses extremely thin layers of unidirectional, non-braided, and pre-impregnated carbon fibers combined with lightweight titanium powder. Cut into octagonal shapes, the carbon-titanium composite material is placed in a mold and subjected to heat and extreme pressure. Finally, the bezel and other case components are milled from the material and refined to form the finished pieces with unique undulating Damascus steel patterns.

The 44mm Laureato Absolute 8Tech features the angular tonneau-shaped carbon-titanium composite case, an octagonal bezel, anti-reflective sapphire crystal front, sapphire crystal caseback, gradient gray dial, lighter gray accents, sandwich-style markers, three sandblasted subdials, light gray PVD treated lume-filled baton-shaped hands, a date display set between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers, and water resistance of up to 100m. It has a black rubber strap with a fabric effect and gray stitching affixes with a PVD-treated titanium folding buckle.

The watch runs on the Caliber Girard-Perregaux GP03300-1058 modular automatic chronograph movement that features 419 components, hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, and date functions, 63 jewels, and a 46-hour power reserve.

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech, reference 81060-41-3222-1CX, retails for $26,700 and will be available starting October 2023 at Girard-Perregaux retailers. Please visit the Girard-Perregaux website for more information.
