Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail Reimagines the Black Baccara Rose for One-of-One Coachbuild
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars revealed the new Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail at a private event close to Pebble Beach in California during the recently concluded Monterey Car Week. Inspired by the Black Baccara rose, the first of four unique cars takes inspiration from the Black Baccara rose.
The limited production Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail has the proportions of the early Rolls-Royce roadsters at 17.4’ long and 6.6’ wide. It features a negative body line sculpted into the coachwork, sail cowls, a ‘dropping’ rear, and a removable hardtop with an electrochromic glass section. The exterior coachwork gets a complex red tone called True Love that mimics the colors of the Black Baccara rose. It’s composed of a base coat, five layers of clear lacquer with a slightly different tone of red for each layer. A dark Hydroshade finish on the exterior brightwork completes the luxury look.
The two-seater’s interior visual decadence starts with the curved shawl panel, fascia, and doors formed from 1,603 pieces of Black Sycamore veneer parquetry. Symmetrical triangles are punctuated by asymmetrical red segments, creating an abstract artwork of falling rose petals. The cabin also features seats upholstery in dark red Mystery leather and light red True Love leather finished with a light copper shimmer.
The centerpiece of the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is an integrated removable and wearable 43-millimeter Audemars Piguet Royal Oak concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date one-off luxury timepiece that features red counters, a red inner bezel, a black dial, rhodium-toned bevels.
The Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is the first of four bespoke Droptails that will ever be made, each the result of collaborations between Coachbuild artisans and select clients. For more information, please visit the Rolls-Royce website.
