Official | Ford Mustang GTD Redefines Performance With 815 Horsepower

When Ford unveiled the Mustang GTD over a year ago, it promised over 800 horsepower and a 7,500-rpm redline. The official figures are now in, and its performance exceeds initial expectations.

The Mustang GTD sets a new standard for production Mustangs by delivering 815 horsepower, 664 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph through its supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine. Ford achieved these remarkable figures using a smaller supercharger pulley and fine-tuning the intake and exhaust systems. Additionally, the engine features a dry-sump oil system, allowing it to rev higher than before, with a new redline of 7,650 rpm, up from the originally promised 7,500 rpm.

The GTD features a near-perfect 50-50 weight distribution, thanks to its eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle gearbox positioned at the rear. Power travels from the engine to the wheels through a lightweight carbon-fiber driveshaft. Plus, a semi-active rear suspension with pushrod technology helps keep the ride smooth and stable. The front suspension features a short-long arm layout.

The car’s overall weight is kept down through the extensive use of carbon fiber on the front splitter, fenders, hood, roof, trunk lid, door sills, and rear diffuser. An optional performance package that adds dive planes, a drag reduction system, a large splitter, and 20-inch magnesium wheels allows buyers further to improve the car’s weight and aerodynamic efficiency.

The Mustang GTD’s impressive performance statistics should enable Ford to complete its goal of finishing the Nürburgring lap in under seven minutes. The vehicle’s high power output surpasses the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in horsepower per liter, establishing it as a leading contender in high-performance sports cars.
