H. Moser & Cie is recognized for its commitment to innovation, and its latest release continues this legacy. The visually stunning Pioneer Retrograde Seconds expanded the brand’s Pioneer collection with its sporty yet sophisticated look.
The design of the Retrograde Seconds is inspired by instruments and speedometers while still embodying a minimalistic aesthetic. The Midnight fumé dial includes H. Moser & Cie’s logo in transparent lacquer, acting like a hidden signature. This discreet approach allows the retrograde mechanism on the dial to shine, which is designed to be technical and playful.
The mechanism, positioned at 6 o’clock, is equipped with a double snail cam that enables the seconds hand to complete a rotation in 30 seconds. The snail releases the energy stored by a hairspring under the seconds hand axis as each cycle concludes. A visible rack under the retrograde seconds’ bridge precisely positions the hand on its path and releases the energy simultaneously, creating a dynamic and mesmerizing visual effect. The timepiece’s visual appeal is further enhanced by the presence of a two-tone disc beneath the snail that indicates whether the seconds hand is in the first or second half of the 30-second cycle.
The Pioneer Retrograde Seconds is powered by the HMC 250 automatic winding movement, a combination of the brand’s 201 basic caliber and a retrograde module designed by Agenhor SA. The striking combination embodies H. Moser & Cie.’s innovative spirit while retaining its signature minimalistic approach. The timepiece also includes a silver-molded skeletonized bridge reminiscent of H. Moser & Cie’s emblematic tourbillon bridge.
The H. Moser Pioneer Retrograde Seconds is an exceptional timepiece of character, innovation, and elegance. It can be purchased for $21,900 on the brand’s website.
