Jil Sander unveiled its largest flagship store in Tokyo’s renowned Ginza district. This new store joins the brand’s extensive network of 20 locations across Japan, further cementing its strong presence there.
The store represents the second collaboration with the globally acclaimed architecture firm Casper Mueller Kneer, following the opening of the Jil Sander Bond Street flagship in London. It offers a sensory exploration of the brand’s identity and reflects Lucie and Luke Meier’s creative vision.
The Ginza store spans 627 square meters over two floors. Its design emphasizes longevity and sustainability, integrating natural and repurposed materials. The floors are carved from stone and feature geological patterns, while the walls and staircase are made from a silver-blue travertine. Other key elements in the space include monochromatic marble blocks, brass elements, timber pieces, and furniture made from recycled compact disc cases.
Lighting has been designed to mimic an artist’s studio’s soft, natural illumination, enhancing the store’s intimate and inviting environment. The store also features an exhibition space for art installations, which includes a display of artwork by British sculpturer Rachel Whiteread, Bergamo II.
The store will showcase Jil Sander’s full range of ready-to-wear, footwear, handbags, and accessories and offer exclusive collections. A special capsule collection of silver-accented products will also be offered, paying homage to Ginza’s etymology, where ‘Gin’ means silver in Japanese. The capsule includes signature pieces like The 7 Days Shirt and The Cannolo Bag.
The new Ginza store will launch the brand’s Fine Jewelry range, including white gold, yellow gold, and diamond pieces. For more details, visit the brand’s website.
