BMW Unveils The Future Of Driving Experience With The Panoramic iDrive

The BMW Group will showcase the future of driving and user experience at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas. Attendees will be able to experience the close-to-production version of the new BMW iDrive, complete with BMW Panoramic Vision.

The BMW iDRive system merges four essential elements in a seamless display and operating experience: the Panoramic Vision, the 3D Head-Up Display, the central display, and a multifunction steering wheel. The Panoramic Vision is a newly developed Head-Up Display concept that projects key driving data across the windshield, which is visible to all passengers. It places vital information directly in the driver’s line of sight, while personalized content can be placed in the central and right-hand areas using the central display.

The BMW 3D Head-Up Display, available as an option, complements the Panoramic Vision by showing integrated navigation and driving information directly in the driver’s field of vision. On the other hand, the central display uses matrix backlight technology and offers an updated menu with QuickSelect for easy touch-based operation. Up to six widgets from the central display can be swiped to the Panoramic Vision.

The fourth element, the new multifunction steering wheel, features illuminated buttons with active haptic feedback. The buttons’ relief-like surface makes it easy to locate them without taking your eyes off the road. The four elements incorporate BMW’s signature ‘hands on the wheel, eyes on the road’ philosophy. They redefine driver focus through physical controls, touch, and voice interaction.

The innovative BMW Operating System X powers all of the features of the BMW iDRive. It will debut in all new BMW models by the end of 2025 and offer even more significant updates and upgrade capabilities than its predecessor. The system will start with the first series-produced Neue Klasse model later this year and will be standard in all future BMW models.

With the introduction of this system, BMW is setting the benchmark in multimodal interaction and enhancing the capability of one of the world’s best infotainment systems. For more details, visit BMW’s website.
