Aston Martin Valkyrie Gears Up For North American Competition Debut At Sebring

Aston Martin’s Valkyrie hypercar will debut in its highly anticipated North American competition on March 15th at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring. This marks Valkyrie’s first appearance in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the first time a Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) will compete in the IMSA’s premier GTP category.

Based on the road-legal version, the race Valkyrie features a carbon-fiber chassis and a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 engine. Its output is capped at 680 hp due to IMSA’s hypercar regulations; however, it can produce over 1,000 hp.

The Valkyrie is operated by the Aston Martin THOR Team. It will be driven by a formidable lineup: 2022 IMSA GTD champion Roman De Angelis, GTD Pro race winner Ross Gunn, and WEC and IMSA race winner Alex Riberas. De Angelis and Gunn are committed to the full IMSA season, while Riberas will join them for Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

Sebring’s famously demanding track will push the limits for the Valkyrie as Aston Martin returns to elite U.S. endurance racing for the first time since 2011. The 12-hour endurance race begins at 10:10 am ET on March 15th, streaming live on IMSA TV and YouTube. For more information, visit the brand’s website.
