Aston Martin DBX S Sheds Weight While Adding Valhalla-Derived Performance Tech

Aston Martin has launched the DBX S, a new DBX flagship model that is inspired by the DBX707 performance and features technological enhancements drawn from the upcoming Valhalla supercar.

DBX S builds on Aston Martin’s long-standing tradition of using the ‘S’ suffix to denote a high-performance variant of an existing model. It features a 4.0-liter Twin-Turbo V8, producing 727PS, an increase of 20PS over the DBX707. This results in a 0-62mph time in just 3.3 seconds with top speed remaining unchanged at 193mph. A modified exhaust system amplifies the V8 engine’s sound, enhancing its character and the driving experience.

Power is transmitted between the front and rear wheels through a 9-speed ‘wet clutch’ transmission. This innovation sends 50 percent of the torque to the front and up to 100 percent to the rear, which delivers incredible performance on launch and eliminates the need for a conventional torque converter. The gearbox has also been modified for a more dynamic drive.

The DBX S also incorporates weight-saving features like an optional carbon fiber roof, which saves 18kg of mass and reduces the car’s center of gravity for enhanced stability and agility. Magnesium wheels are also available as an option for the first time, which saves 19kg of unsprung mass and improves ride quality and handling. The deletion of roof rails and an optional lightweight polycarbonate honeycomb grille adds to its weight savings.

DBX S benefits from suspension enhancements, including a revised calibration of both the air springs and electronic dampers. Its standard electronic roll control enables the car to roll no more than 1.5 degrees even at the limit.

On the exterior, the DBX S commands attention with a pure black vaned grille, vertically stacked quad exhausts, new sills, and new front and rear diffusers. The front fenders include distinctive ‘S’ signature badging, which is manufactured in solid metal and glass enamelled with the ‘S’ infilled in red. The car also showcases a new lower livery design available in 3 colours: Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, and Podium Green.

Inside, the DBX S features a bespoke ‘S’ theme, featuring a distinctive herringbone design on the seats that become increasingly wider as they progress upwards. Lightweight sporting Alcantara is used on the headlining, seats, center console, lower instrument panels, and upper trim. The Alcantara is blended with semi-aniline leather in areas of high wear. Additional touches include ‘S’ logos on the seats, treadplates, and engine plaque, and Aston Martin wings sculpted on the headrests. The car comes with the Aston Martin Premium Audio 800w 14-speaker audio system as standard.

The DBX S continues the evolution of the marque’s SUV story and is lighter, faster, and more compelling than ever before. It is now available to order with deliveries expected in Q4 2025. For more information, visit the brand’s website.
