Bentley Motors has unveiled a one-of-a-kind Koa veneer surfboard, handcrafted from Bentley Koa veneer. This exclusive surfboard is developed in collaboration with luxury surf retreat Marnie Rays and artisan boardmakers Otter Surfboards
Koa veneer is usually used in Bentley’s high-performance grand tourers and was chosen from nine other wood veneer options to honor the traditional Hawaiian roots of surfboard making. Bentley’s craftsmen carefully prepared the Koa veneer, which was passed on to James (founder of Otter Surfboards), who shaped the surfboard by hand using his signature technique. The finished board includes etched logos from all three collaborators.
A short film narrated by Lindsey Holland (founder of Marnie Rays) documents the process from Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, where the wood was selected, continuing to James’ workshop in Cornwall. The film finishes on the waves of the Cornish coast and features the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase.
The surfboard debuts at Marnie Rays, where guests can see and surf the surfboard in the ocean. Following its debut, it will be gifted to Surfability UK, an organization that offers adaptive surfing lessons to people with disabilities, learning differences, and injuries. The board will be auctioned to support their mission to make the ocean accessible to all.
The one-of-a-kind surfboard is a celebration of skilled craftsmanship, sustainability, and the shared vision of all three collaborators. For more information, visit the brand’s website.
