adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2012 Lookbook

adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2012 Lookbook

The adidas SLVR line drops looks at their Fall 2012 collection, giving us a some really wearable product. Though athletic wear is the brand’s strength, their more recent offerings give us a good mix of that plus more casual offerings such as leather jackets for both men and women as well as pants, sweaters, blazers, and highly functional outerwear.

Y-3 Black Cord Lace Sneaker

Y-3 Black Cord Lace Sneaker Spring/Summer 2012

Spring product is beginning to drop and this Y-3 sneaker is one of our favorites thus far. The low-top design features tonal leather and rubber trimmings throughout and is finished off with a white rubber cap toe. The black cord lacing is modern and futuristic at the same time and really sets the shoe apart from the pack. The red cord loop detail at the heel worked well as a contrast.

adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2011 Artist Collection

adidas SLVR Fall/Winter 2011 Artist Collection

We’re huge fans of adidas’ SLVR line and to see them tap a few independent creatives as part of their Artist Collection is really amazing. The artists cover fashion and/or music and the end result consists of these limited edition shirts. The unisex white crew tees highlight the individually designed graphics and are part of SLVR’s Fall 2011 offerings. Look for the product at select SLVR by adidas stores.

adidas SLVR Core Mid Canvas Shoes

adidas SLVR Core Mid Canvas Shoes

In the past, we’ve seen the SLVR line from adidas to be more for ball players than anyone else and I think the majority would’ve agreed to that. However, taking a closer look at the label’s offerings in recent collections tells us there’s an apparent shift in the vision and direction of SLVR. Their Core Mid canvas shoe tells the story quite nicely. It’s casual, comfortable and features a lightweight, breathable shell that’s perfect for the summer months.

It reminds us of kicks from back in the day but you won’t see anyone sporting anything of the sort on the courts these days. Don’t get me wrong. There are shoes in SLVR’s current lineup that are more for athletics than for casual wear but this piece isn’t one of them.

adidas ObyO David Beckham Harris Tweed Down Vest

adidas ObyO David Beckham Harris Tweed Down Vest

From the David Beckham for adidas Originals by Originals Collection (ObyO), which is designed by James Bond, comes the Hooded Down Vest. It’s filled with real down feathers and made of Scottish premium Harris Tweed wool. On the inside, you can see the lining’s made from coloured satin which maintains the luxe-level appeal. It’s all topped off with the Harris Tweed logo on the inside for the much-welcomed stamp of approval.

We’d tell you to add this to your Christmas list but there’s a good chance it’ll sell out before then.

FIFA World Cup: Making of the Jabulani Match Ball [Adidas]

World Cup 2010: Making of the Jabulani Soccer Ball [Adidas]

Keeping things simple is sometimes a difficult task for sponsors. Take Adidas for example. As the official sponsor of this year’s World Cup, instead of delivering a traditional match ball which has 32 hexagonal panels, they decided to get creative and make the Jabulani, a ball that has only 8 panels and slightly different texture. The ball poses a disadvantage to non-Adidas sponsored teams as well as, Adidas-backed teams like Germany have been exclusively using the ball for months, whereas other teams like England have not dude to contractual obligations.

Want to see how the ball that some folks are calling the “atomic bomb” is made? Worry not, we’ve got the video after the jump.
