Burberry has released looks at their Fall 2012 ad campaign and we have to say it’s quite different from the work we’ve seen from the British label in the past. This campaign celebrates Britishness, London and the Burberry heritage of weather protection in the most cinematic shoot to date, featuring a new cast of rising British talent – Roo Panes and Gabriella Wilde. It was shot at the iconic Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, where the new Les Miserables is currently being filmed.

Oh, that’s nice. You’re looking at a new wide angle lens from Carl Zeiss — the Distagon T* 2,8/15. The German lens maker’s latest creation will be available with for Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The lens can focus from just 25cm (10″) and offers a 110 deg and is said to be extremely quick. Other Distagon fixed focal lengths include 18mm, 21mm, 25mm, 28mm, and 35mm. Expect the 15mm model to entice photogs into architectural and landscape photography. It features 15 optical elements, including two aspheric elements and glass with abnormal partial dispersion to control distortion and chromatic aberration. It features an integrated lens hood and accepts 95mm threaded filters.

The price is marked at $2,948 with a release date set for May 2012.

Nikon D4 DSLR Full-Frame Camera

Nikon has finally unveiled the D4, the long-awaited successor to the camera maker’s full-frame D3S DSLR. It features a 16.2 megapixel sensor and an extended ISO to 204,800 at Hi-4 as well as a brand new full-frame FX-format sensor to take things next level. The D4 can also capture 10 fps stills at full resolution with full auto focus and exposure. A new 51-point AF system offers full cross-type focusing that’s compatible with all Nikon lenses, even when paired with a teleconverter. Nikon’s latest beast also features two card slots with support for both UDMA-7 CF and the recently-announced XQD format, which brings write speeds of up to 125 MB/s — enough to capture 105 consecutive RAW images at 10 fps. A release is slated for late February.

Sol LeWitt Installation at Mondrian SoHo

Starting today, the wall of the Mondrian SoHo in New York features a permanent outdoor installation of photographs by Sol LeWitt, entitled: SOL LEWITT: On the Walls of the Lower East Side. The installation consists of 120 photographs of New York’s Lower East Side shot by LeWitt in 1979. The grid is grouped in threes that have been printed on vinyl and installed on a wall measuring 20-feet high by 60-feet wide. The Sol LeWitt installation is by the Lafayette entrance to the hotel and is a completely new venture for the Morgans Hotel Group as they launch a new initiative to further enhance the guest experience through their relationship with art.

Tommy Ton, famed street style photographer and founder of Jak and Jil, has really built a name for himself over the years with his signature shooting style and humbled approach. Though you probably wouldn’t have recognized him a few years back, the surge of blogging and emergence of street style have made him a household name. He’s respected by all that have been touched by him and his work and for good reason. His approach is natural and unforced and the results have been epic.

With his unique eye for careful detail, Ton captures the true ready-to-wear ensembles donned by editors, models, and celebrities who walk the streets every Fashion Week. During last month’s Spring/Summer shows in New York, Life + Times followed the master at work.

Canon’s announced the EOS-1D X, a full-frame beauty that’s set to replace the EOS-1Ds Mark III as well as the EOS-1D Mark IV models in Canon lineup. The 18 megapixel sensor is supported by a pair of Digic 5+ imaging processors, which help drive a 61-point high density reticular AF system, a top ISO setting of 204,000 (51,200 native), a 252-zone metering system, a 14 fps JPEG burst mode and a built-in wired gigabit LAN connection, for remote shooting and image transfer. This one’s pretty epic as it has an incredibly sharp intelligent optical viewfinder, with an on-demand grid, AF status indicator, a dual-axis electronic level and a shooting mode readout. Beyond this, the video capturing capabilities are intense as you can choose between 1080p video at 24, 25 or 30 fps, or 720p at 50 or 60 fps.

Look for the EOS-1D X to release in March 2012 with a pricetag of $6,800.
