Yigal Azrouel Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

New York-based Yigal Azrouel takes inspiration from painter Pablo Picasso for his Spring 2012 collection. It displays a strong mix of slim silhouettes, nautical prints and ethnic patterns. The line tackles the essentials but manages to keep its modern appeal with the use of leather, denim and cotton.

Ovadia & Sons Spring/Summer 2012 Preview

Ovadia & Sons Spring/Summer 2012 Preview

This week’s (capsule) show in New York had some solid brands on display, including one of our personal favorites — Ovadia & Sons. From their previous work, we know they can dish out some really amazing product and they’ve done just that with their Spring 2011 collection. WATM tells us this is just their 3rd season and the two brothers from Brooklyn are doing a phenomenal job offering pieces that are as functional as they are wearable.

The Look | CREEP by Hiroshi Awai from Spring/Summer 2012

The Look | CREEP by Hiroshi Awai from Spring/Summer 2012Styled by Por Homme

CREEP by Hiroshi Awai is one of the industry’s most consistent labels. We’ve covered it numerous times over the past few seasons and think Mr. Awai is doing an exceptional job with the label. The designs are creative yet still very wearable and the fit is just right. For Spring 2012, we worked with CREEP to put together a look at this week’s PROJECT show. The result was tremendous — Floral print blazer with a lightweight button down in an orange shell along with white linen pants. Look for more shots from the Toronto-based designer’s Spring 2012 in the near future.

PROJECT NY | CXXVI Burlap Tote for Spring/Summer 2012

PROJECT NY | CXXVI Burlap Tote for Spring/Summer 2012Styled by Por Homme

We’ve been seeing some standout product here at PROJECT and one of the most consistent brands as of late happens to be CXXVI. They’ve really come a long way from selling just t-shirts and now house a stable of solid offerings. This burlap tote really stood out to us so we had to capture it in all its glory. It’s lined with chambray and features leather handles. In the above shot, you even get a glimpse of the brands neckwear and shirting for S/S 2012.

First Look | Falling Whistles Spring/Summer 2012Styling and Photography for Por Homme

We originally covered Falling Whistles two years back and boy has it come a long way. It’s a nonprofit started by Sean Carasso after a trip to the war zone of the Republic of Congo. The brand and its cause have been gaining some traction as of late and we’re really impressed with what they’re offering for Spring 2012. We had the opportunity to put some of the collection’s standout pieces on models and snap away here at PROJECT.

Road to (capsule) | A Moment with Onia’s Carl Cunow

Road to (capsule) | A Moment with Onia's Carl Cunow

Road to (capsule) is a Por Homme exclusive, made possible by the good folks behind the (capsule) tradeshow, and of course, the person(s) being interviewed. We ask each designer a few questions that help to give us — as fans, readers, observers, whatever — a better understanding of what makes these gifted individuals tick. The questions are fairly uniform, but as you’ll see, the answers are far from that. The (capsule) show invades New York July 18th and 19th, giving viewers first looks at Spring/Summer 2012 collections from the industry’s most reputable men’s labels.

We’re just days away from (capsule) New York and we were fortunate enough to sit down with Onia‘s Carl Cunow. The man’s an experienced vet of the menswear industry (more on that below) and with the help of his small team, he’s been able to really offer a swimwear brand that’s a cut above the rest. I personally stopped by their showroom not too long ago and I was really able to see why Onia is growing at an unstoppable pace. Carl’s a gifted talent and he’s shown that his brand is here to stay. Check out what he had to say as he and his team get ready for (capsule) New York.

Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2012 ‘Great Gatsby’ Collection

Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2012 ‘Great Gatsby’ Collection

French label Kitsuné unveils looks at their Spring 2012 collection, one that’s inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. If you’ve wondered what the men of the Roaring Twenties wore in Manhattan, this might’ve been it. The details weren’t spared this time around as Kitsuné brings together American staples with European detail. Look for Italian linen jackets, cardigans and sportcoats that fit just right as well as Japanese oxford shirts and well-fitting trousers.

Umit Benan Spring/Summer 2012 ‘Third Generation Italians’ Lookbook

Umit Benan Spring/Summer 2012 'Third Generation Italians' Lookbook

Another season, another solid offering from Umit Benan. His Spring 2012 collection is filled some amazing product and from looking at these shots, we can see where the designer pull much of the inspiration. Old school meets new school, a changing of the guards of sorts. We’ve learned an infinite amount from the generations before us and it shows in the way we carry ourselves. “Third Generation Italians” tells the story with timeless suiting with a modern twist. The pieces feature a blend of lightweight fabrics and a fit both you and your grandfather can appreciate.
