24,700 portable navigation systems stolen in 2008, mine was one of them

The FBI’s just put out some staggering statistics in regards to portable navigation system theft in the US last year. 24,700 of them were stolen in 2008 compared to 3,700 in 2006. The 700 percent increase in theft of gps systems can be accredited to the increase in stupid people that leave their systems on the windshield when they make a quick stroll to Wal-Mart. Also, this horrific economy’s put millions out of jobs so I won’t be surprised if some of them got a bit desperate.
